Back in 2003, when search engines were less reliable in producing
the results you were looking for. I thought it would be a good idea to
create a directory of all the websites pertaining to Cheshire
Connecticut. Armed with a simple html editor and a lot of enthusiasm, I
launched the first of the town/zip directories and called it
Cheshire06410.com. Like the Titanic, it pretty much hit an iceberg on
its maiden voyage.
From my perspective, it has been a great learning experience. It has
given me the opportunity to grow with the continual progression of the
internet.
Now we are in Web 2.0 and we have gone from static
html websites to interactive flash applications. More people are using
the web for business than pleasure, we are using it for communication
and collaboration on an interactive level which has never been possible
before. But it can all be very intimidating
As a business man, I would have to warn you, that the return on
investment is not very good. I doubt very much that many of your
ventures so far have been very satisfying. To many people have brought
into the misconception that all you have to do is build it and they will
come. As it is with any facet of your life, it is all about what you put
into it. As the next generation takes charge, you will find that
information technologies will play an everyday part of of life and doing
business. I am a resource which will help you prepare for that time on a
budget which you will define.
I eventually hope to develop working relationships with many of you.
Along the way, I will build a little business doing what I enjoy which
will supplement my retirement. You on the other hand will be exposed to
the developing possibilities and develop a relationship with a person
you will come to depend on and tust.
